Amanda Bynes’ Dirt Cheap Clothes
NEW YORK — In case if Amanda Bynes‘ Hollywood career fails, which is unlikely (she’s too sweet), she has a back-up career to turn to. Amanda is another starlet who joined ranks of celebrities-turned-fashion-designers. Bynes, 22, fulfilled her life-long passion for creating clothing by developing her fashion line, Dear by Amanda Bynes for retailer Steve & Barry’s.
The “Hairspray” star, who was closely involved in the design of the clothes, was quoted saying about her collection:
“I would like to wear it on a day-to-day basis. When I was growing up, I always wanted the coolest jeans and the ‘in shirt.’ But my parents would always say to me, ‘We’re not going to buy the most expensive thing, because you’re growing.’ “
Bynes said she’s glad that she can give high school and college-age girls a chance to wear her jackets for less than $20.
Amanda is not the only celebrity designing clothes for Steve & Barry’s. The discount retailer, whose merchandise is priced under $9, uses several celebrity designers and targets primarily teen shoppers. Steve & Barry’s features Bigger Than Basketball line of sneakers by New York Knicks guard Stephon Marbury. ”Sex And The City” star Sarah Jessica Parker’s clothing line, Bitten, and tennis star Venus Williams’ casual line, Eleven, are both featured exclusively by the retailer.
